I am a recovering LGBTQ+ youth person of housing instability and I thank Ruth Ellis for providing space for me to grow!
The legacy of Ruth Ellis has provided a safe haven within our community for over 90 years and has made an incredible impact in our safety. Without their help most of our LGBTQ+ youth of Detroit including me would face continued hardship and not have sanctuary to preserve our well-being.
Ruth Ellis's work is a shield widely recognized amongst us and her legacy is an example for our future endeavors in protecting our youth and providing space for all of us to grow.
